A: Removing a Yamaha action. Arrow indicates soft pedal rod disengaged from hammer rail. B: Sustain pedal rod attached to damper lift rod (24).
Note how pin projects through rubber grommet.
This has to be refitted as the action is replaced in the piano.
C: (different piano) Mute strip which usually has to be removed.
Top arrow shows top action bracket secured to bolt by knob, while bottom arrow shows foot of bracket sitting in cup.
Middle arrow points to top of soft pedal rod connecting to hammer rail bracket.
D: Underside of action showing some of the same fittings.
The green material is wippen cloth that contacts with the key capstans.

A: Temporary felt mute blocking strings (coloured red for clarity). B: Pedal rods.
Left hand rod activated by soft pedal extending up inside piano making contact with action at the top.
Right hand rod activated by sustain pedal extending up making contact with damper lever attached to action.
C: Top of sustain pedal rod protruding up through cloth bushed guide.
Note graphite on rod. Arrows show brass key capstans and cup where the left hand action bracket fits.
D: Pedals and wooden trapwork which is adjusted by turning the nuts on the bolts.
A U shaped spring can be seen on the far right under the trapwork which returns the damping mechanism back to the original position once the pedal is released.
